The Ecomuseu de les Valls d'Àneu was opened to the public in June 1994. Nowadays, this institution is an entity which, through the research, conservation, diffusion and restoration of our integral heritage intends to participate in and bring economic and social development to the Àneu valley and the rest of Pallars. |

The Ecomuseu de les Valls d'Àneu was born from a new museologic and museographic concept where the visitor is introduced, through active participation, to the Pallars way of life at the beginning of the last century. |

|
The Ecomuseu allows us to better know the natural and cultural reality of the Àneu valley territory and the changes which have occurred in the last several decades. |

In contrast to traditional museums, the Ecomuseu doesn't close itself away inside a building, but rather spreads through the entire territory in order to explain the Àneu valley life. As such, it consists of several heritage centers in various Àneu villages that can be visited for recognition of and familiarization with the unique way of life. |

We currently offer several historic sites: Casa Gassia in Esterri; the hydraulic sawmill in Alòs d'Isil; the monumental group in Son; the Benedictine monastery of Saint Pere del Burgal (12th century) in Escaló. |
