Escaló is a small village that has preserved the typical arrangement of medieval walled towns (13th century); the houses are so constructed as to form the same walls from the principal street having two gates of entry.
THE MOORISH TOWER
It is a watchtower sited on a hill next to the village built on a circular plan; its walls are one metre thick or more, a height of some 14 meters crowned with battlements. Its construction is medieval (11th-12th centuries) although reconstructed in the 16th century.
